Hospital Chemicals Awareness Training

We've developed a chemical awareness training course designed to meet the needs of hospital staff and demonstrates how to use a spill kit.

It includes:

  • Procedure in the event of a chemical spill

  • Fundamentals of COSHH Regulations

  • Classification of hazardous materials

  • Hazards associated with chemicals used

  • Understanding a 'material safety data sheet'

  • How to use a chemical spill station

  • Personal protective equipment

  • What to do after a chemical spill

Theoretical and Practical Hazardous Spills Training

All attendees are issued with a set of course notes that can be referred to during the training or used as a reference at a later date. The course material has been developed to promote understanding of the subject and retention of the most essential information.

The course has been developed in conjunction with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. It also includes guidance issued by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS), the NHS Executive and numerous nurses and sisters who have first hand experience of incidents involving hazardous chemicals.

The course will be carried out by our consultants and can be tailored to your needs.
