Transplantation Congress 2019
If you are a transplant surgeon or otherwise involved in transplant medicine, then make a diary note for the BTS Annual Congress 2019.
Run jointly by the British Transplantation Society and NHSBT Organ Donation and Transplantation, the event will be held from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th March 2019 at the Harrogate Convention Centre.
With a theme of ‘Communication’, the transplantation congress aims to bring together clinicians, surgeons, laboratory scientists, nurses, transplant coordinators and others interested in organ transplantation and donation.
The first day of event will include joint sessions aimed at all sectors of the community, including an update on organ donation opt-out in the UK and a presentation on ‘Communicating risk to transplant patients’.
The Thursday programme is split into more dedicated sessions for the BTS and NHSBT, with talks on a wide range of topics including ‘Modifiable medical risk factors in liver transplant recipients’ and ‘Spinal cord ischaemia in pancreas transplantation: the UK experience’.
Friday will continue with the British Transplantation Society dedicated programme with talks covering how to manage terrible bleeding in a liver, kidney or pancreas transplant, the importance of communication and team work in achieving high quality data in clinical trials, and much more.
